About Group 40

Group 40 is the English-Speaking group of Geneva. We are currently beginning work on Human Rights violations in Belarus and China.

Belarus. In Belarus we are working forAlyaksandr Kazulin leader of the Belarusian Socialist Democratic party who has been in prison since June 2006. Amnesty International considers that Alyaksandr Kazulin is a prisoner of conscience.

China. The Human Righgts situation in China is highlighted because of the Olympic Games. Amnsety has asked the Chinese Goverment to stop censuring the internet, to abolish the death penalty, to free prisoners of conscience, and to close the Centres of Re-education through Labour. (The inmates in these centres have been sent there without going through a court of law.)

Meetings. The meetings are held on the last Thursday of the month at 19:30 at the « local » of the Geneva Amnesty Groups, 9, Av de la Gare des Eaux-Vives.
